I have been drooling over a range of different mixers lately, considering all I have at the moment are a set of $20 hand held beaters that do a basic job. Nothing wrong with them of course, but considering my interest in all things baking and trying to make more stuff at home, the idea of having a decent stand mixer is sounding very attractive.
So I have been looking wistfully at all the gorgeous models out there, and while I still think the Kitchen Aid is the most adorable one ever, I am not sure I can bear to spend the best part of a grand on one, particularly with money being tight at the moment.
It all was a bit of a dream anyway, until I got a very unexpected surprise for my birthday - a very nice cheque from my parents. And instructions to spend it on ourselves! (A very very rare thing from my very, very financially responsible parents). And while I could have feasibly spent the lot on the top of the range, there are other things we have earmarked for that money, so I started having a look around at what other quality mixers were around for a more reasonable price.
And then lo and behold, yesterday I saw they have the Kenwood Patissier at a great deal - with a bonus slow cooker as well! So off to the choice website I went, and it seems this is a great mixer for the money, and it was only a few points less than the KitchenAid. So as soon as the Monkey wakes up from her nap, I am going to check it out. It seems like such a huge purchase but I know I will get the use out of it so we will see.
Very excited at the thought though!
